I asked my granddaughter what kind of quilt she'd like, her answer was "Turtles!" It was NOT the answer I expected....
Help!! (Please?) I am trying to create a pattern, but I haven't done that for a long, long time...

Coloring pages can be adapted for applique

I remember seeing a pillow once that used hexes for the shell, and hands, paws, and tails added on. Were you looking for a certain style, like aboriginal or kids? I'm thinking I've seen paper pieced ones, also.

Here's one done log cabin style. The picture isn't that great. But the pattern looks like it has potential.

You can also make turtles with a Drunkard's Path variation, adding prairie points for the head and tail. Here's how: http://www.hgtv.com/cr-quilting-bloc...ing/index.html

Here is another great coloring site that I use all the time for my applique quilts: http://www.coloring.ws/coloring.html. Good luck with the quilt.
