Default Love It

This is a Moda charm pack with a green linen backing. It was supposed to be a Lil Twister but I put it together incorrectly and this is the result.

It was by far the easiest quilting on my new to me Grace Machine quilting frame. From the first stitch the tension was right on. I used Coats machine quilting mercerized for the bobbin and the Coats Cotton Machine quilting for the top, both 30 wt.

My puzzle is how can they both be 30 wt and be so different, besides the mercerized?

Or was it the linen backing?

Any help from machine quilters would be greatly appreciated.

Geraldine

My philosophy has always to use the best quality of fabric, batting and thread. C&C is not a very good quality of thread. I have recently switched to using Aurifil.

I disagree. Mama, Grandma, great grandma, great great grandma and on up the line all used Coats & Clark thread. Auriful is a beautiful thread colorwise and by feel, but to me it is just a matter of preference, not quality.

By the way, I got sidetracked and forgot to tell you that I like the modern look of your quilt. You did a good job of winging it.

My machine doesn't like Coats & Clark. I mostly use Metteler. Great quilt! I love modern quilts.
