LOL, good question. I don't turn mine off either and I also use a flash light.

Oh! That makes so much sense. In fact at sit and sew this weekend I couldn't figure out why my machine wouldn't sew. The bobbin winder got engaged while I was putting the machine in and out of the roller case!
I will have to remember to use this accident!

I never turn my machine off. I use an old blown out tole painting brush to clean out my machine.And then I only oil it in the bobbin area ( which is the only place my manual says to oil it) But that brush does do the trick in picking up bust bunnies.

NEVER EVER give in to blowing the dust ut.....
