Machine problem sewing binding corners
I have a Brother Innovis 4000D that is a brat when it comes to sewing down binding at the corners. I use a double folded binding and when I come to the corner, with the mitred fold, the thread nests underneath, making a huge mess. I can hear it start to do it about 10 stitches before it hits the corner, so the foot is starting to lift. Any idea why it's happening and if there is something I can do to change this??? I have another Brother that this doesn't happen on but it frustrates me that I can't figure out why on this machine.

I don't understand what the problem is, but I learned how to sew mitred corners from tutorials on Utube. I get the impression there may be an easier way to sew these then how you are doing it so I'd recommend looking at them. I also have a brother and using the method I learned to do this I have no problem.

It may be the fabric is to thick at the corners use that little tool that goes under the fabric. I don't know the name of it but bernina makes one that is used for hemming jeans maybe it would work for this problem. It does not attach to your machine so it can be used by anyone. Hope this helps you out.

I sew my bindings by hand to the back of my quilts. I like to round my corners and avoid the miters. I have done them but don't like them as much as the rounded corners, which drapes better.
No idea why this happens.

When I get to the corner, I stop the stitching.. lift the presserfoot and begin again. (this is for mitered corners)
Like Jingle, I also make a lot of rounded corners. Gives a softer look to the quilt.
