HI everyone,

My daughter is making a quilt for her niece. She chose some butterfly fabric for the top and did a four patch, then for the backing she has a princess piece. When she quilts it, she just wants to do a basic "S" design, but does not want to quilt through the princesses. We were wondering if she would be able to flip the quilt and quilt with the bottom on top and then the bottom would be the top of the quilt. I hope this makes sense.

We are quilting it on a regular sewing machine, since it is a small quilt.

Yes, absolutely you can do this.

Absolutely quilt it upside down. This is also a good remedy if you want to do a basic meandering but the top is very geometric and will effect your ability to keep the stitching 'random.'
Always remember, and never forget, there are no quilt police!!

I'm doing that with a quilt I made for my Dad. I bought a fabric for the back that I thought I could follow since I'm not real good at machine quilting.

Just make sure that you are quilting it enough... check the quilting requirements on the package of batting :D:D:D

This is a good way to machine quilt. I have heard from people who sometimes use a design on the backing that they follow for quilting. Turns out nice. Provided, of couse that you follow Amma's advise about the size of quilting.
