I have been reading the posts on machine quilting thread in the search area. I see that there are many choices and preferences. So far I'm leaning towards trying Aurifil on larger spools since many quilters like it and it comes on larger spools and makes them less expensive than 2 smaller spools.
My question: Is there an item that can be used separately from my machine to hold large spools of thread while sewing? My Pfaff thread area is small and the spools must lie down on their side so there isn't room for larger spools.

Thank you for any help. :)

I have a big thread stand to hold large cones. It looks like this one: http://www.connectingthreads.com/too...d__D81905.html

You could us a empty cd. holder after you take all the cds out off it. are a bug coffee mug to set your thread cone in behind
your machine. just a few ideals :-D

I put large cones and unruly embroidery threads in a mug behind my machine.

Thank you all so much for your ideas. I think I'm ready now to start quilting one of my quilts tops. I'm excited and scared all at once.

I just taped a safety pin on the end of my machine and run the thread thru the hole and then set the cones and big spools on the table next to the machine.

Thanks for your ideas. I'll try them all and see what works best for my machine.
