Hello! Today is the 2nd time I am going to FMQ a small quilt. I have a Babylock Melody (just like the Quilters Choice that is now discontinued). I have dropped the feed dogs, but what stitch length should I set? thanks

Carol

Stitch length is 0 when free motion quilting. Setting the stitch length changes the speed at which the feed dogs pull so with them dropped, they aren't pulling at all. No point in making them move if they are dropped.

I haven't had much luck with FMQ, but then again, I have never set my stitch length to 0. I always had it on 4, and that just didn't work. I'll have to try the 0 and maybe I'll have some luck. Thanks. I just love this board. I learn so much on here.
