Difference between a scant and a normal 1/4" Is always in the eye of the beholder.

Sometimes I feel lucky to get a straight 1.4" seam. I don't know how I'd ever do a skant 1/4 inch.

Like feline and Paper Princess I would only undo where absolutely necessary. I would begin by making the 1/8 to 1/4 as they suggest. You may need to undo where seams overlap. Good luck meet mr seam ripper.

No ma'am, I gave the same advice... I'm a fellow "ripper relaxer"; I think as long as it's errant stitches we're ripping its ok.

Serianas,
It's your quilt, figure it's your "dirt", right??? Lol...

you do not have to "unpick" the seams but can just leave the stitching in and then sew a 1/4" seam. You can press the seam to 1 side so the 1/8" seam will be OK left in. I would recommend this since sewing 1/8" seam may make your quilt blocks not fit correctly. Also 1/8" may be too thin and pull out if stress in but on the seam. Good luck!!!!!

Your 1/8" seam will be caught in the seam allowance and since piecework is usually pressed to one side instead of open you shouldn't have any issues. It will save you the unpicking part. I would test it on one block though to make sure it works. In theory it should but theory doesn't always manifest into reality.
Exactly what I was thinking.
