A local friend has asked me to make 5 Bow Tuck totes. She bought all the supplies needed. What's a reasonable fee to pay for my making them?

Have you made one before ? How long did it take you? include the time it takes you from the layout/cutting to the finished bag. Since she has already bought the supplies I would charge by the hour (x5) assuming you are making them one at a time.

I have made them before. I spent 3 hours cutting them all out. Now I plan to make them 1 at a time. What is a reasonable hourly rate?

I guess I should say, she's an acquaintance. She is actually a friend of my MIL's.

I believe in the "teach them to fish" program.

IF she has the interest and you are willing...help her make the first one or two and then have her make the other ones.

If she claims she can't sew on a button, then tell her these aren't buttons, silly rabbit, their purses and they are easier than a button, lol.

I've never been able to be fair with my time when I tried to help someone out...I didn't want them to think it was ridiculous the amount of time it would take to do a project. I know it takes me at least 3 hours to do a bowtuck once it is cut out ... but I may be slower than most. Even at $8/hr that would be $24 a purse.

    Sorry I know I wasn't much help :(

I think $30 each is a fair price for a friend. If you do each piece 5 times instead of each bag individually; I think you may find it goes faster also. Well....if you follow what I am saying, that is lol.

If they buy all the supplies, I charge $25.00 each to make them.
