You may like Bonnie Hunter's Dancing Nine Patch pattern. It seems much easier to sew. It would look great using gray sashing and scrappy squares. http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2013/...tern-time.html

Thanks for all your replys. knew you would have answers for me. It is like the cubby hole on fon's & Porter only scrappy.I like the one Bonnie Hunter has but might take longer.Glad Vondae reminded me it would be smaller cut in half. This group is the best!

I see no problem in doing it your way, remembering that seam allowance issue. Going scrappy sounds great! I love scrappy quilts.

Yes, you can do that and it will work just fine. You might have to make the blocks that you intend to cut in half just a tad bigger to allow for the extra seam allowance for them. (I think!)
