Making hexies from circles..
Has anyone else seen this method? Just saw it yesterday {Saturday} morning on a quilting show. Can't remember the name. A woman was demonstrating it. So cool !! Am anxious to try it.
My first quilt was hexies, and using the trace, cut and baste method..none were perfect hexies..wonky is the best word. Still enjoyed making it, but this is so much neater and quicker.
You can google " hexies made from circles" for the instructions.

Hmmm, I will need to look for the video, I googled for instructions but it seemed like it would be more work to trace and cut circles. I rotary cut squares 2 1/4 inch size to make 1 inch hexies, I cut a lot of squares and then take a few minutes to snip all the corners off when watching tv.

I couldn't wait to try this as I'm into hexies at the moment. I cut some circles the size of my biscuit cutter and using my little hobby iron I made these in less than 15 minutes. Yayyy.
Edit, I have an accuquilt die but was in too much of a hurry to get it out!! LOL! That, for me, would go faster.

Yes, and there is a book to, but I don't have it close by now...I also bought the new large size circle die for my GO. I did some using the olfa circle cutter..that works well. It is a fun way, but in my mind the fact that it is really two sided would make it bulkier if wanting to make a GFG.....but for a tablerunners placemats, mug rug, footsie at edge of bed...or what ever it would be great, just sew and join and done and reversible ......no batting or backing. That is my plan!
