Making a quilt for cancer patient
#1
A family that our family is friends with is going through a rough time. "The dad" has been going through cancer treatments this year and for a while it was in remission, but recently they found that it came out of remission and spread even further. It was throat cancer (which is surprising because he doesn't smoke and doesn't drink heavily) and now its spread to the head, shoulders, and I think the blood system. One doctor gave him up to a year to live and a second doctor said he thinks it can be put back in remission. Either way he's going for another three weeks of chemo.
I got the idea to make a quilt today. Something nice and cuddly for when he's resting, going through chemo, etc. I think I want to make the Shuriken design I made. I had made a block from that design that went into a quilt being donated to another cancer patient in town. I'm thinking in Green Bay Packer colors as its his favorite team. I'm not sure on the size...he's like 6'2. I think I'll make the blocks extra large so I'm not spending so much time sewing together all these little blocks.
What do you think?

I just completed and gave a "cuddle" quilt to my HS friend who has cancer. I used the tube quilt method with bright colors and used flannel for the backing. She loves it and she and her 4 yr old GD have been taking naps under it.

Here's the idea. Except I'm thinking green and yellow on a white background

My DH is 6'4" and I have found that if you add 2/3 of length of a regular lap quilt to the length and 1/2 width to the width, you have a great size for taller people. Good lucka and God bless the recipient and you.
