Clotilde is selling a mat smoother
I have a Brooklyn Revolver that I love. It's a circular rotating mat that I got thru Come Quilt with Me. Pat tells me she's not offering it right now or I'd buy a new one.
Mine is almost too worn to use and I was hoping this tool would be my friend. This is not a surface that benefits from water.

Anyone have? use? good or bad results?

The smoother works if your mat isn't badly damaged. I bought one. My mat was many years old and had gouges in it from cutting at the same position. It won't smooth the gouges out. If your mat is in pretty good shape, it's a good investment. It does take off the burrs from cutting and leaves a smooth surface behind. It will help a newer mat last longer.

I have a large mat that is about 15 years old and I still use it. I refresh the surface on occasion using a well-worn spongy sanding block (the kind you sand wood with) with a light touch in a circular motion. It seems to work for me. (I figure I don't have much to lose on this old mat!)
