Has anyone tried to do this? I have one 6" block on the back, with 1-1/2" sashing, that I want to match with the same-sized block on the front, so that when I quilt (SID) it matches up. Thanks everyone!

I know for a fact without even trying it my seam lines would not match up to SID. LOL.

Mine might match up if I ever did SID. I don't. I went to the Madquilter school and I do MAD. That's meandering around the ditch!

Hand stitching is the only way I can see that working

That's the only way I could think of to do it, too.

This should keep the upper and lower blocks very close to even.
First make sure blocks are the same size.

Using pins line up corners and every few inches along the area to be stitched. Leave these pins in vertically.

Next pin on either side of the vertical pins so nothing will shift.

Then pin across the line to be stitched, and you can sew over these pins if you would like

bottom side of blocks being matched, I would shift the bottom block so the corner matches better

first vertical pins to match top line to bottom line

put pins in on both sides of the vertical pin, do this beside all of your vertical pins, I would do the whole block.

These are the last pictures. I also use a decorative stitch that goes on both sides of the line so if you are off a little it will not be as obvious. Forgot to tell you to remove the first pins you put in before sewing.

this is the last set of pins to add and pin close to all of your sets of pins, remove the first vertical pins and if your foot does not fit between the second set remove those also.
