I don't purge based on color alone--just cut it into strips and throw it into your 2.5" strips bag if you have one. (or 2", or 1.5"). Surely it can be used sparingly in a scrappy quilt, can't it?

My very first apartment was Mauve and greens. Everything I put in that apartment coordinated with the mauve. Keep it, you never know when it will peak your interest again.

What she said! Mauve makes me think of bad bridesmaids' dresses.

I think of my stash in terms of a color wheel and some of every color so that I can choose a color scheme and have things to use as coordinates and complements for main fabrics. Mauve is just another color to be used. The marketeers do all they can to steer you toward combinations that are currently popular by their decree. But, for each person, you need a selection. So, keep your mauve and use it judiciously because it is a tool to a beautiful quilt.

Mauve can be a nice addition to a quilty project....just add it it smallish amounts as an accent or filler. Or relegate it to the scrap bins.

I like mauve too. If you really think it's so ugly then cut it up real small and use it in conjunction with many other colors. You'll be amazed how well it plays with the others.

A color is never out of style. If you like it, keep it. Right now I'm not fond of the robin egg blues on the market, but it is in vogue currently.

If you don't like it, don't use it. Blue is a very popular color for interior wall paint in our area right now, but my mom just absolutely detests the color & it wouldn't matter if every other house on the street was painted top to bottom blue, she'd never add a single blue wall to her house.

I personally like mauve. It looks fresher against a bright white background rather than some of the dustier or creamier backgrounds when it was originally used. Same thing with that beautiful bright lemon yellow -- it gives it a different look than cream/beige. I also like it with that modern grey with just a hint of beige in it. But they're your quilts & you get to decide. I'm sure they'll be just as lovely with or without the mauve in them.
