    I didn't have any fabric for the experiment just the batting! I wanted to see if the batting and thread combination were flammable. First step could have been to check just the batting but I suspected it was okay and was really testing the THREAD.

    I found it interesting the package it comes in doesn't say anything about the thread used and it says you DON'T have to prewash fabric...seems would be best to do that though.

    It's called TATER BATTING and I looked on website and it's carried by JoAnn's. In packaged batting area and they had the directions to make it on cards by the batting. I knew what to look for or it wouldn't have just stuck out at me. Right now it's buy one get one free so I bought what they had at our store here in Tucson which was 8 packages and they did NOT have more on order.

    I'm hoping with the 100% cotton thread I bought (50% off at Jo-Ann's now) it will be okay. Going to do another experiment with that thread before mass producing for craft fair.

    Okay, I'm going to ask a stupid question. I've been catching snippits on this forum for some time about Tater Bags. But what I want to know is WHY would you want to microwave a potato if a fabric bag? Is there some advantage that I'm missing?

    Because if you are making just one baked potato it is so much quicker and energy efficient. 5-10 minutes of microwaving (you have to stop and start a few times), rather than preheating the oven, cooking for a few hours...


    It keeps the moisture in them much better than microwaving without a bag. Ours was a gift, and we were skeptical, but it is awesome.

    It's called Warm Tater and is manufactured by the Warm Company, who also makes Warm n Natural, Warm Bond and many other linings/battings.
