Default Miniature Quilts

Have any of you participated in Jo's Little Womens Club? I don't have a quilt shop near me to join but I am interested in making a small quilt that is similar in design. I've seen some of little quilts made by this club and they are so precise! I don't know if this is the skill of the particular quilter or the techniques taught by Jo Morton. I see that Jo Morton has several books but don't know which one would be the best to start with. I would appreciate any information you have about techniques, tutorials, books, etc. about making similar miniature quilts.

I've not heard of a club by that name.

Sally Collins has a book called Mastering Precision Piecing that has some good instructions. I like to make miniatures and I found the best, most precise method is paper piecing. I made a 5" mini feathered star this way.

Wow!!! That's what I'm talking about. Where do you find your patterns?

Well, the first one was originally a pattern from Cindi Edgerton, http://www.averyspecialcollection.co...bits/page1.htm. But at 6.5" it was too big, I needed it to be 5", so I printed out a 5" pattern from EQ7.

The second one was actually the very first miniature I ever made, and the pattern for it is in the Sally Collins book I mentioned.

If you have EQ, you can print anything out at any size you want.

Or if you have PP patterns, you can shrink (or enlarge) them on your copier.

I've done it many times ... just be sure to remember the outside seam allowance shrinks/enlarges too. So adjust it accordingly.

Peggi I thought I had done some miniatures but NOT as complicated and tiny as yours ! What fabulous precious piecing !! Glad you had your hands there otherwise it would NOT have shown how tiny they are!! Yeah, EQ is my favorite program on my computer beside spellchecker !!

That is almost like micro-piecing! Definitely useful for those mini scraps! Beautiful work!
