I just got mine out finally and it isn't working right. The top thread keeps getting tangles at the bobbin. I don't understand why it is acting this way. I sewed with it yesterday, then tried to embroidery today, and it is acting up. I have tried everything. I took it all apart, cleaned it, retried it, no luck. I have the bobbin and needle it came with, tried different threads, all doing it.
I hope someone has an answer for me.

Mine did this the other day too. I used canned air to blow out all the lint in the bobbin area, check carefully for any little threads, Changed the needle- about 4 times, ( I think I had a bad package) Put in a different bobbin and rethreaded. Check the tension and it started to behave. Good Luck.

when my singer does that, it usually means one of two things:

-time for a new needle

-i put the bobbin in backward.

how long have i been machine sewing? holy smoke! more years than i want to put in writing!

and yet ... i still forget sometimes which way the bobbin goes! just shows to go ya.

(it should be dropped in so that the thread pulls to the left.)

and ... i hate to admit it ... but every once in a while i don't thread the stupid thing properly. little pictures/arrows right on the machine and i still goof it up. (i'm quite dangerous if i sit down at the machine before i finish my first cuppa morning coffee!    )

are you sure you have the tension wheel in the proper palce? it HAS to be on E for embroidery but has to be on a number for sewing.

Both of my singers are tempermental in the bobbin area. If the plastic bobbin has the slightest rough spot on the edge it will tangle the thread in there. The bobbin area must be really clean and lint free also. My Futura sometimes winds the bobbins too tight, and that causes issues also. The biggest thing with my Futura is making sure that the thread snaps into the tension rings properly.

Ok, I tore it apart again, redid everything, and figured out I didn't have the bobbin case in right. I got it in by accident, and thought, hey that looks different, so I tried it and it worked for 10 mins. now the bobbin thread won;t catch. I am getting so frustrated, I cannot figure out the designing, I can't get lettering in and adjusted. I am ready to give up on this machine. I thought when it sewed for those 10 mins I had gotten somewhere. Now I am back to not knowing what to do. I wish I had someone to work with, but there isn't anyone in the area. The LQS only works with Brother machines. I am so frustrated!!!!!!!

I wonder if there is a yahoo group for futura users? That might give you more answers...I am thinking of joining one myself...the manual just does not have enough info

On the bobbin case there is probably a little pin that hits against a tiny spring make sure there is no lint in there I have had that happen too. Mine is a Brother and we have no dealers or repair around here either. But my instructions are pretty good.
