Is there anyplace special I can go to find a missing bench to an antique sewing machine? I bought the sewing machine and cabinet yesterday, and they are both in really good shape! The bench is missing, and I think it is going to be hard to find one that will help me to sit properly at the table when I sew. Any ideas?

I can't help you but I know the type you are looking for. Our machine, when I was growing up, had a padded square bench where the seat lifted off and you could store things inside. My SIL has the machine and bench now. Keep looking, I'm sure some are still out there.

I saw one at a local sewing store that just went out of business. Check Esty.com or e-bay to see if anyone has one. I had been looking for one, but gave up and now am making due with the folding chair I have. But I'd love a chair where the seat lifts up and you can store things in it.

My mom had one like that too! I think my sister has it now.
I use an inexpensive office chair with adjustable height, that works pretty good. ;)

My Mom had one of those. I use an office chair that's adjustable, its much more comfortable for me.

Sometimes they are in Goodwill shops, yard sales, antique stores, etc. Like others have said, try E-Bay.

I inherited my mother's Singer cabinet but the stool disappeared. I use a round vanity stool at that machine as it fits underneath nicely. For my Viking Rose machine which sits in a large cabinet, I purchased a square chair that has the storage under the seat & a back to the chair. I got it when I was teaching quilting at a Sew n Vac shop, so it was either through Viking or Checkers supply. Prior to that, I used an office chair.

I see them all the time on craigslist, sometimes with a sewing machine and often without. You just need to keep checking. Good luck.
