I have also been to MSQS. I live in the Kansas City area. It is about an hr north east, If anyone is planning on meeting Jenny and that is one reason for going, besides getting fabric, call to see if she would be there when you want to go, as she does travel a bit. She also has a Quilt Magazine ,every 2 months, no advertising. At the time I visited the shops, there were only 2. I was also overwhelmed and really saw only a portion of what was available. I went with an idea as to what I wanted to purchase and what I wanted to make. When you make a purchase, you accumulate points which can be used as credit on your next purchase. So if you go store to store you can use those points at the next store. Can hardly wait to use up more of my fabric and make another trip to see Jenny. By the way, a hamburger shop is right next door to the main store and serve delicious shakes and malts for when you need a break from fabric.

I've been there twice now and it's a lovely store. Full of beautiful fabrics and patterns and I always find a great buy somewhere. Jenny is a lovely woman that is funny and happy.

I'm with you Tessagin. Even though they're his friends, you should have some "ME" time on the trip, too.

MY DH is a guitarist, so wherever we go, we always end up at a music store, sometimes for hours (yes, he is the same way about his guitars as I am about my sewing machines <LOL>). So we came to an agreement many years ago -- for every music store we visit, we visit a quilt store. Because he is a creative person, he found he enjoys looking at the quilts displayed in the stores. Because he is a people person, he loves meeting and talking to people. It's a win/win for both of us.

I will rent a car if I have to. I plan on spending a day and some money and meeting Jenny or even one of the family.

They have 4 stores , the original, Penny's quilts (which is all solids) Seasonal store, and another store just open
which has civil war fabrics. There is also a retreat center and mercantile building for shipping and receiving. We
arrived on a day that they were having a lunch for all employees (100+) so all stores were closed from 12-1 but
there is a sandwich shop and bakery where many quilters were hanging out! It is worth the trip if you get close by!

If you have time, it is truly worth the time and trip. It's close to 4 hrs from Wichita. I visited MSQ last April and it was truly a ball. It was close to a 6 1/2 hr trip for me, I stayed in Cameron then drove over to Hamilton, about 15 miles. It truly is an experience.. I hope to go back some day.. I did get to meet Jenny and a couple of her daughters. It's a great place to visit for sure.

We are planning a road trip back to our son's home in Illinois and then down to Oklahoma to see my sister. In a side trip, we will be a few miles from MSQ so will stop by to check it out. If anyone knows of other quilt stores to stop at, please let me know.

We are going in July. Lots of driving from El Paso TX to Oklahoma City, Hamilton, Mount Rushmore, Denver then home. Saw on the blog we can play golf for $20 since we both golf and he is an enabler with my quilting - should be a fun trip to Hamilton.
