Concerning the You Tube video on May 10 in which Jenny from Missouri Star Quilt Co. made a minkee rag baby quilt: the backing was flannel and the front was minkee charm squares. Should the flannel backing be prewashed because flannel shrinks so much? The charm squares wouldn't be prewashed I assume. But I am worried about the flannel shrinking once the quilt is washed. Any thoughts anyone? TIA

I believe flannel should always be washed and dried on hot to shrink it. Some on this board have stated they wash multiple times to make sure.

Flannel has a reputation for shrinking, I wash and dry twice. Minky is poly, so no shrinkage.

thanks for the input. If I can find the minky charm packs I will try this rag quilt idea and definitely prewash the flannel.

If the finished square is 4", and 20 squares to a pack, how many packs would I need to make a quilt for my 2 year-old GD? I don't want it too big? Any idea, anyone?
