When making mitered borders is it best to have the border pieces all the same width, or does it really matter. I was thinking that I would like to go from narrow to wide with about 4 different borders and wondered what it would look like.

If having multiple borders I like a variety of widths.

Somtimes I make the top and bottom border wider than the side borders, especially if the original quilt is square and I want it to be longer to get a better fit to the bed.
I am also working on an Asian quilt with each border a different width! I guess whatever you want will probably be just fine. Happy Quilting.

I think different widths add a lot of interest to a quilt. pab

Thanks so much for your replies. I think I will put them all different widths, just to see what it will look like. Thanks again.
