I was using mainstays 100% polyester thread for needle and bobbin until my needle thread ran out. So I switched to the new Coats and Clark 100% mercerized cotton I bought a while back.

And then my machine started acting funky :(
Funky how?? What did the stitching look like??

My guess it is a tension problem - When I have this type of problem ( It is usually from me doing something unintentional ) , I always - do this and sew a sample.

Re-thread completely Top and Bottom (this means taking all the thread back to the spool and re do it and removing the bobbin from the case and redoing it as well) Then Check Tension and presser foot pressure (If that can be adjusted). and make sure that the feed dogs are up!!
