moms pillows and quilt.
i am a newbie to quilting and have yet not tried to "quilt" per say, but i have made several tops into blankets using fleece as a backer fabric. last year, my best friends mother passed away. i had made her several smocks, since that was the type of tops she liked to wear. after she passed , i asked Papa if i could have her smocks and see what i could do with them. the project was a labor of love. as i tore down the smocks, i could picture mom in them. after i had several of them torn down i was able to come up with enough fabric to make 4 24x24 pillows using the friendship star as my pattern. then i made a matching blanket backed with fleece. Papa cried and so did i. now he has a piece of mom with him. unfortunately, i don't know how to download or attatch photos. just thought someone would like the idea. as soon as i learn how to post pics, i will. thanks for listening. gibbette

That is a very good idea. So good of you to make.
By the way, a quilt top with a fleece back is considered a quilt, in my world.

I love making quilts out of old clothes. I made a grandmothers flower garden with lots of my DD's clothes when she was young. My Aunt did the same for her daughter when her mom passed away. To me it's like breast feeding, just the right thing to do if you quilt or sew.
