Default Question about placement of bear on baby quilt

This is how I imagined this quilt to turn out when finished. However, the bear is not attached yet and the outlining was done on Photoshop. I wanted the bear to be seen but not overpower the quilt. But it looks like it does not show up enough. Outlining will help. I really want it to be subtle. Also, thinking of adding 3 blocks (like children's wood blocks) down by the foot with the baby's initials on them "A" "L" "H". I still have to put the side borders on and I am thinking about a 3rd border out of the fabric that makes up the bow around the bears neck. It is a bit dark but seems to work well with the colors. (It will be used for the backing.) I only have 3 more days to finish this quilt before I head to Illinois for the baby shower. Love to have your very inspiring input. You all have been so helpful to me so far. Yolanda Wood River

I think the bear will show up perfectly as it is - subtle, as you say, but not overpowering. If you decide to add the blocks I would leave the bear where he is and add the blocks to the lower right corner. If you decide to leave out the blocks, I would move the bear to the right and up by a smidgeon, maybe two inches in each direction?

I think a third border using the bear-bow fabric would look wonderful, as long as it isn't really wide - perhaps the width of the strips in the chevrons?

This is a lovely lovely quilt, and any mum would be thrilled to receive it!

Thank you, Alison. I think a tad to the right would be good too. If I move him to the right, I might have to move him down a bit to stay away from the pink chevron just above its head. Any ideas about outlining the bear? I bought a deep pink yarn to put around the pieces with a zig zag stitch, but don't want to "tacky" it up. Maybe a blanket stitch by machine in black.

love that quilt!! I like the soft grey you used to outline in paint ... that would look good. The soft grey compliments all the colors you used!! As for placement ... I like where he is but if you moved him to the right just a smidge, then yes bring him down a bit too. Love the idea of the blocks as well.

you are right about the pink chevron... i think for that reason, i wouldn't move him to the right. and i think the blocks should not be all the way to the right... would look too much like you are trying to balance the sides. a border of the bow fabric sounds great.

I would move him to the right so that his centerline is 1/3 of the way across the quilt. I like the idea of moving him down an inch or two as well, the aqua of his bow should stand out against the chevron that is aqua behind it. I love the idea of blocks with initials and an aqua border.

Your chevrons are beautiful! I think I would move him as close to the bottom as you can maybe just an inch above the the black border. Will he fit there without the pink chevron hitting his head? That part of the quilt is the lightess and I think he would show to his best advantage there and I would outline him in thread to match the bear material. I don't think I would add the blocks on the chevrons because I wouldn't want to cover any more of the chevrons. How about adding the name to the back?

love the colours --love the bear--love the idear of the blocks the initals would make it more special---idear yes stay away from the pink cheveron --what if you put the bear the other side up as far as the yellow cheverons and the have the 3 blocks in front and to the other side as if he is playing with them--the quilt is a winner no matter what you do
