Default Monofilament thread in a long arm

I just bought and watched a Craftsy class by Angela Walters on long arm quilting (My HQ Avante is being delivered on Tues hooray).
She said she often uses monofilament thread on top and cotton thread to match the fabric in the bottom.
Do any of you long armers use monofilament thread and how do you like it?
Any tips would be appreciated
Thanks

I used it on one quilt and really liked it. I had a 50 wt cotton thread in the bobbin. It came out really well and I didn't have any problems. Have fun with your new toy!!

I've used it a few times to outline applique and really like it, monopoly is my favorite.

I too use Superior Threads monopoly thread with cotton in the bobbin. When you order it from Superior the package tells you what size needle to use and setting adjustment.

was wondering how it last. Does it get brittle and break or have those pokies that irritate you? Is it shiny so you can see it? A long time ago I saw a Mckenna Ryan quilt (applique) done with 'invisible' thread but it was so shiny that it really wasn't invisible

I have used it and do like it. However...I think the quilt is a little stiffer than if you used cotton thread. To me I only use it if I am using large pattern quilting. I do think it is great to use on utility quilts.

You can get a matte finish in Superior Threads Monopoly.

You will need to use a loose tension due to the stretch. I used it on my OBW and it didn't show up shiny and feels like regular thread; I think its because of the bobbin being regular machine quilting thread.
