When you're in a hurry, something will go wrong to cost you even more time. For instance, I sat down to do some FMQ and wanted to finish a section in the one hour I had to work on it. I wasn't rushing, though. I wanted it done right. As I was grasping my bobbin thread after I brought it to the surface, my needle went down, up, down again and up again, all through my finger, nail and all. I even had to slide my finger off of the needle! Now, I'm not accomplishing anything and just resting until the wave of nausea and dizziness passes.

OH MY GOD!!! It is true that if we try to hurry ANYTHING, we often get tripped up! I think someone's signature line here on QB says: "Never let a sewing machine know you are in a hurry"!!!

You are finally sewing at the perfect speed with your foot on the foot pedal locked at just the right angle, when along comes your dogs who chase each other under your quilting table and step on the foot pedal causing the machine to speed sew and pulling the fabric right out of your steadying hands. Time for the seam ripper...

When you need another 1/2 yard, Joanne's has the fabric, you buy it, take it home and apparently the dye lot is different, it does not match the color of the first piece of fabric.

If you have laid out a special pale yellow Japanese print, that is where the cat lies when his huge abcess ruptures. (The cat is now OK)
If you commit in writing to a relative to a Christmas star and green tumbling block table runner, there is no light green fabric in the house and the local dry goods store has none either.
