i finally laid out my wool quilt and took a couple pictures to share, i don't know if quilting will actually show , but i think the rest of it will show up ok. this was set up as a BOM, i bought the patterns, scavenged my own wools and worked on it for 2 years during breaks at work. the year i managed to get it together it took a blue ribbon and best of show at the fair. i love the quilt but own a white cat so the quilt lives in a pillow case on a closet shelf...i should probably find it a new home one of these days ;)

What a beautiful quilt.
Is the black background wool also?
Fantabulous job!

It beautiful. Do you turn the edges under before you do the blanket stitch?

the back ground is a wonderful double sided black flannel from Benartex. no you do not have to turn under edges with wool applique, the wool is felted and will not ravel. it is wonderful to work with! i used the same heavy benartex flannel for the backing and a hobbs heirloom black batt. it is a beautiful quilt!

I love that. We hardly need a wool quilt in my part of Texas, but I have to try at least a wall hanging some day.

Stunning! I love wool applique - beautiful work. There was a thread on here recently discussing wool applique and perhaps working on a project together - if you didn't see it you might want to check it out here:

Beautiful! Too bad you can't have it out - I'd put up with a little cat hair just to see this every day.
