Got back home from work and there was a package for me waiting on my bed. I thought it was the purple Moda marble fat quarters I bought, but I kind of wondered why the package was oddly shaped (packaging envelope folded in half). If I had looked at the shipping label I would have clearly saw that it came from Missouri Star Quilt Co. and that it was the Binding Tool I had bought and not fat quarters.

Isn't it funny how you forget you bought something and it comes in the mail? Can't wait til I start using the thing. I bought it to help me with all that bias tape I'm going to have to make for my Zelda project. Saw the tutorial for it on YouTube and was immediatly convinced to buy one. Usually don't go for "the latest thing", but they made a convincing tutorial. I think MSQC could sell me just about anything (they got quilting charisma I'll tell you that).

I do that all the time-order something and totally forget. I love it-it's like getting an unexpected present in the mail.

go back to their website and find the tute on using the binding tool to make an awesome braid quilt...........it is the BEST!!! there are no 'sticky out' edges to trim off, it finishes to a perfectly straight side line. that is what I broke down and bought the ruler for....not to use on binding!! LOVE it and the store too!!

I have one that is by another company. I rarely use it, but love the idea of 250 inches of bias binding from 1/2 yard, so I always cut my binding like this now..... I will try it when I get to try the braid pattern though...

I did catch the tut for that. Not a French braid lover, but I thought it was clever how they used the Binding Tool to make it.

pull out some left over 2 1/2 inch strips and give it a try...I think it will ''grow'' on you as it is so easy to do and fast too!! if you do one row with all darks on one side and lights on the other and the next row with your colors reversed, it makes up a very eye pleasing pattern. great scrappy pattern!!
