Lucky you. A 301 or 301A is on my wish list.

Gorgeous looking machine! Those older black singers are so pretty to look at. I love the way the lines on the harp are straight - gives you more space (as opposed to the newer machines, everything is curved plastic that takes up all that space).![]()
This is beautiful. Sew happy for you . Your a lucky duck today.
She's a beauty. Enjoy.
Beautiful find.
I am new to all the info on the older machines. So someone explain why these old singers are so popular for quilters and us newbies. Thanks,Teresa
Teresa, everyone has their own reasoning behind the attraction to these old ladies, but many love them for the straight, even stitches, even over the seams where you have several layers of fabric that often throw off a machine with zigzag features. (The needle, unless it bends, can't vary from "straight on".) These machines don't often wear out...everything about them is metal, they just last longer than machines with nylon or plastic parts. Then there's the history...there's just something about using a machine that our ancestors would have used...we feel a sort of connection to the past...
Aesthetically, they look cool!!![]()
One day, you'll only be a memory for some people. Do your best to be a good one.
