I have been quilting for about 2 years. Myns? quilting room consist of the dining room table. I am trying to come up with some ideas for a cutting table to put in my basement. I don't want to spend a lot of money but I want something stable and foldable. I have thought about putting two banquet tables together but I'm afraid they will slide apart. Does anyone have any cost wise suggestions?

My cutting table is an a antique dining table in my sewing room. I works OK but I went to a friends and her DH bought 3 doors and they sit on the pool table. Light enough for her to take off when they need the pool table. They were heavy enough they didn't slide or shift. It was really nice having all that space.

I am courious about what other use too.

I have a foldable banquet table that is my sewing table AND my cutting table. If I need TONS of room, I either remove my sewing machine OR I take my OTHER banquet table (given to me for free) and just clamp them together underneath. Granted, I have to crawl UNDER the table to clamp them together, but it works great!!

I have a folding cutting table from Joann's got it with a 50% coupon. Also bought the large cutting mat to cover it with a 40% coupon.

Hubby got my table at Wal-Mart. It is a Cosco and cost like 29.00. It is awesome, it folds up easily and opens just as easy. It is very sturdy too. It has a coated top that is kind of rough so the cutting mat doesn't slip. I love it.

I have a folding banquet table that I got on sale. I use the small dining room table I have and also I have a yard square table in the "stuff room" that I can use when it's cleaned off...which rarely happens. Other than that it's the floor, which gets to be very hard on the knees.

Thanks for the ideas. I may try the suggestion of clamping two banquet tables together. I never thought about using clamps to hold them together. Thanks for the help!

I have a banquet table I purchased for $29.00 a while ago then purchased bed risers, (from bed, bath and beyond)to make the table higher so I would not be bending over cutting etc. Saves my back. And works great. Marge PS I sew on my dining room table as we never eat on it.

I also bought the large cutting table at Joanns when it was 50% off and got the cutting mat for 50% off too. I love both of them.

I have the "U" type clamps that have the screw thing.
I think I should have mentioned that. I tried the squeeze type, but if I knocked the table, they would fall off.
