my first UFO for 2012--YEA!!
i finished my first UFO for 2012- and am pretty happy about it
it's not one of the really old ones- but it was one i had put off for months- and finally just --gotter done!
i quilted it on New Years Day and spent the week working off & on on the binding. one of my Neice's had picked out the center panal a long time ago--she is going to be so excited to finally get it
the bad news---
i also spent the week cleaning/organizing/sorting in my sewing room-and in the process of cleaning out the closet came across 3 more UFO's i had totally forgotten about
it's like 1 step forward-3 steps back...
oh well= at least now when i get them done-there won't be any more surprises- i will be done (hopeful here)
anyway- 1st one done for 2012---one at a time is a good thing
second pic is a little of the back & quilting- the back is a deep turquoise batik

Congratulations on completing your first UFO for 2012!!!! It's very pretty and I am sure she is going to be thrilled. Don't stress over finding three more UFOs. Now you remember you have them and you can work on completing them this year too! Have fun and enjoy finishing those UFOs (I have far more than I can remember owning-gulp)

there are many many more than 3 to go---i thought i had them all pulled out (something like 13-15) and thought i was organized-and working top to bottom---it was dis-heartening to come across 3 more---but i will get them done- i've figured out- if i just go in and work on one---until it's done- it doesn't take so long (only took 45 years to figure this out---
and this first one may have sat around for over 6 months waiting---when it came down to it it took a matter of hours---not weeks, or months---i just need to stop procrastinating --- and stop starting new ones constantly---and finish up what it already in the works
thanks for the compliments- it is better in person than in my picture

Good for you, great way to start your new quilting year.
I belong to a small message board and each year we list 12 UFO's that we hope to finish before the end of the year, one for each month of the year. Although I've never finished all 12 on my list, and the ones that I do finish aren't in the order listed, the list keeps nagging at me to do something about it. This year was my best finish, 7 out of 12!
I already have my January one, the quilt I wanted to give to my granddaughter this past Saturday. She was in from CA and she could have taken home with her but I guess I'll have to mail it. It's going to be real easy for me to fill in the rest of my 2012 list but hopefully I'll get them all finished. May in Jersey
