I can think of a reason. I have done it. My very first FMQ I did was on a king sized quilt. I meandered down one row of blocks and back up the next row. The thread never broke from beginning to end as I never stopped except to change the bobbin. And to get that pin out that I sewed over. I had sewn over the back of the pin so the thread had to be broken and repaired.
When our homemakers club was doing quilts years ago, the ladies actually bent a pin open and bent the curved part straight to get it out without breaking the thread.

I like your thought process, I'm going to try that.

I'll definitely have to try this, since fmq and I cannot seem to work well together. I end up doing 1/4" outline quilting or resort to my old faithful hand quilting.
Your quilt looks great, is there a larger pic of it?

Kif
