I 'attempted' to machine sew my binding...it was such a disaster. It got all puckered and messy...and now I'm leaving it that way and calling it a homespun, homemade, loved-looking quilt because to rip out all that stitching is not happening

I don't mind sewing the binding on and turning it, I use glue method, but I don't really care for the hand stitching part. I haven't tried using the machine to do it yet. I just hand stitch at night while watching tv.

Yeah I have to hand-stitch my binding next time because this binding is so bad....it's so ugly on my gorgeous quilt

I don't feel like I'm very good at the binding either. I have managed to miter the corners, though. I machine sew the binding because I don't like needlework.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Do you use a walking foot? Makes all the difference in the world.

i've literally made hundreds of quilts- i've never successfully done a complete machine stitched binding- i always wind up hating how it comes out---so now i don't even consider it- i machine stitch to one side- fold to the other side- and hand stitch it down---always turns out just fine---with no aggrivation/frustration or drama.

Find a fellow quilter and swap. I have a friend that cannot do FMQ so I so her tops and she does the hand sewing on all my binding. Has a beautiful stitch whereas mine would look like my cat did it.

I love doing the binding by machine. It means that I can start another quilt. You can also use a decorative stitch!

I don't mind doing the binding. To me it is just part of the process. I completely machine stitch my binding. I have a really bad shoulder and it hurts too much to do much hand sewing.
