I always mark the seams at the Y corners, so I know exactly where to stop and backstitch. Stop just before (couple of threads) you get to the intersection and backstitch.

Thank you both..found some videos on You Tube that were helpful and it showed the marking technique. Back to work on my square...after I take out the puffy ones..of course. LOL

Thanks again

I love your color choices for the block. If you over stitch even one stitch from the other side you will get a bubble. Better to be a little short. If you backstitch it will hold just fine and after pressing the diagonal seam open it will lay flat.

Thanks Bizy, Im lovin the fabric and I'm really looking forward to seeing this table runner as a finished product. I didnt think to press the diagonal seam open. I still been gettin a lil puff..that is probably why...unless Im directed I have been pressing towards the dark fabric. Will post some pictures when I get it completed :)

start with a sharp pencil and a ruler...draw your 1/4" lines on all of the pieces to be joined...that way you know where to start/stop (right on the x where the seams cross...do not sew into the next seam allowance) also, if you start at the (inner) corner and stitch -out- to the edge you will have better luck.
your blocks are beautiful!
