I have heard of using a tube sock - sew channels the length of the sock, fill with rice, corn or whatever you choose and then the pillow case.

Hi
I have made (wheat bags/rice bags) in a horse shoe shape, these sit around the neck nicely, also very useful to new mums with sore boobs.

As this subject has been so popular I did a search for you all, the first link is for pre-made ones but for those who are clever you can see all the designs available, especially of interest to the lady who wanted to know how to make a neck one.

And this link is for the lady who wanted to know where to find cherry pips. http://cherrypitstore.com/

Hope they are of help to someone.

Thanks so much for the link! I am going to order some. For some reason the rice smell bothers me, and DH being a farmer would most likely shoot me if he caught me buying a bag of high priced corn. We will have corn in the fall but I don't want to wait that long lol.

Yes I make and use these. I have several in different sizes and shapes. The Large ones {8x12} we use on cold winter nights for foot warmers, Long tubes about 2 foot for around neck. I now fill with buckwheat { lighter in weight and works well }I also make a removeable shell for laundering. :-)

You can buy them everywhere but high dollars. I just think of the fabric I can buy with it instead. LOL. I like the tube sock idea. My orphan socks in my laundry room are going to find a new home, alone. LOL. I have scented oils too so Just need to buy more rice and deer corn and cherry pits, and whatever else was suggested on here. Just love all the ideas.

I add a little fragrance to the mist and it smells so good when it's heated. Lavender is best.

I have a commercially bought one from Bed bath and beyond, and I wished it had ties on it or something to keep it wrapped around my neck. What a great idea, to use Velcro. I have made some friends neck wraps and they love them, but i am going to add Velcro from now on. I used thistle seed in mine. I use flannel! What do others use? Jan
