Here in Ontario, school does not start until September 6th. For the first time since 1985, I have no children to send back to school. My youngest has just graduated and I have recently retired and probably won't teach until sometime in late September or early October. It is strange not to have to do "back to school shopping".

I'm fortunate. My kids go to a private religious school, and this year they don't start until 9/6. It's very hot for the teachers, even with the A/C. I'm happy to help them anyway I can.

Wow! I don't start with kids until Sept. 1 or so. But we don't have AC. Well, the library does with all of the computers and the main office does but the classrooms do not.

Thanks for all the hard work you do. It is really appreciated by the kids, I still remember my favorite teachers from when I was a kid. :-) Hope you can get some good sewing time in again soon.

Thank you for wanting to be a teacher. My youngest DD graduated with a teaching degree. She was a first grade teacher for one semester and declared she didn't like it at all! She never taught another class after that first year. LOL.

We start Sept 6...always after Labour Day weekend...last year we had a little glitch in the contract and had to go in for 1 day the week before..it was strange...
I wouldn't mind starting in mid August and get a little more time off in Feb and April...a very dear friend of mine moved back home to Mass...and we taught together for years in Toronto...we were just talking about that and how she prefers the breaks throughout the year...
This September will be my second last Sept before retirement...but who's counting...lol..

Hi...I teach KDG, as well and I can totally relate to what you are saying. I start back on Weds. the 17th and we have students on the 19th. DH knows to be very considerate of me the first few weeks of school as I am exhausted at the end of each day and, after having been oh so very patient all day long, I sometimes 'lose' it in the evenings! LOL

I see you are in IN, as well as me. Sure hope your school has air-conditioning!

Good luck to you during these first few weeks of school!
