okay, have to find a pattern. I have the directions but need to get a pp'ed option or at least a template that I can cut out for free from the internet. it is the triangle in a square or called peaky and spiky. I am doing this churn dash stars pattern and I forget to download the templet. can't remember the site either. bummer huh? anyone got a link I can use?

The only thing I could find was templates from Marti Mitchell.

Peaky and Spike was a Doreen Speckmann pattern with templates.

As Jan said, it is Peaky and Spike, by Doreen Speckman. First saw her demo on Simply Quilts. Her story about how she came up with the name was hilarious.
