At least that is one thing I don't have to do. My original quilt teacher said NOT to prewash fabric, and I never have, don't intend to start now! That is why I'm not joining some of the fabric swaps. If I don't prewash for ME, I'm not going to prewash for anyone else! LOL.

And I have heard all the reasons WHY prewash is necessary.

My WIP has sure grown, considering I stopped after the Christmas gifts were done last Dec. Joining this board has inspired me so now I am having fun again.

----BOM (this Board)... I was all caught up. June block comes tomorrow.
I sure hope I have enough same colors scrap supply holds up for all 12 months for a sampler lapquilt. It'll be for me since I've never kept one.
After June block, I'll take photos and show you. I'm making them fine, just not so sure about the fabrics going together well. You'll tell me.

----Lap quilt for my mom to use watching tv. I hope I can at least have the top pieced to "give" her for Christmas. It's the last of going together fabrics of enough amount to make the 8 blocks. Pattern: Wagon Tracks from BOM-April 09 (this board).

----Wallhanging... fabric just arrived for me from a darling board member here! I've chosen a pattern. So far, I've cut out one color for 2 of the 4 blocks. Cutting is hard for me with RA so I can only do a little at a time. That's ok, the fabric, brand new and elegant, is fun to look at and touch.

----fabrics out and waiting for me to experiment making kaleidoscope squares. No real project, I just want to learn the technique.

I'm having fun... thank you everyone!

Oh and gaigai.... I too was taught to not prewash. I've compromised by washing only projects that will be washed over and over again like bed quilts, lapquilts, or quillows. I do not wash decorative projects like wallhangings or pillows or landscapes.

Here's my "not really weekly" update of my WIP list. Our final Quilt Guild meeting of the year was last night, so one project got finished up in time for it, and of course, the meeting generated a new couple of new ones!

Finished:
1. June Block of the Month for my Quilt Guild
2. June Block of the Month for this board
3. Mini-quilt for my Quilt Guild challenge (I'll go post a picture in the Pictures forum)

Working on:
1. Throw-sized quilt - Wedding gift for my sister (all blocks pieced, starting to assemble the top)
2. Sampler quilt (6 blocks done - this is an on-going project as I do a 'trial' block in my sampler colours for each BoM block I'm doing for my guild and any other BoM or block swap I join)
3. Throw-sized quilt for Amanda (blocks half finished)
4. Set of quilted coasters and placemats for Daphne (some pieces cut)
5. Pair of quilted curtains for the basement (one almost finished, the other cut out)
6. Pair of quilted curtains for the guest bedroom (tops finished)
7. Wandering Star wallhanging (my first every quilting project - top finished, needs to be quilted)

Planned, but not yet started:
1. BOM & group quilt blocks for Quilt Guild (due Sept. 21st, fabric from my stash)
2. Throw-sized quilt for Rob & Kristie's wedding gift (fabric bought, pattern chosen, wedding is in November)
3. Lap quilt as a Christmas present for my husband's grandmother (fabric bought, pattern chosen)
4. Pieced denim futon cover (to use up all our old jeans and protect the futon couch from the dog)

Okay, I'll try to remember my WIP.

1. Harvest Spice BOM--It was looking so good and then I got distracted. When I went back to finish I found out I was missing a block and managed to get it recut by my LQS. Now I need to get back to it.
2. Batik quilt top I made for my daughter needs backing prepared and quilting. I'll probably send it to a longarm quilter.
3. Lap quilt with Hill Country Spring fabrics needs borders and finishing.
4. Quilt for my own bed needs borders, etc.
5. Brown and blue quilt--I loved the fabric and haven't quite finished the top.
7. Turning 20 needs back, etc.
8. The little quilt I made when I took my beginner lesson has never been quilted.
9. Tree art quilt I did in QBL last summer needs finishing.

You get the idea. I love planning and piecing, but it's so easy to get distracted with new projects. Maybe listing them will help.(She says hopefully!)

I need to revise my WIP list.

in progress:
--wallhanging, baby gift, don't have time to make 2 quilts for twins------PRIORITY #1
--BOM Pioneer..here.. so far, I'm still keeping up
--lapquilt for Mom; she's still using a cheap store one--Christmas or birthday
--lapquilt for me; I don't have one. First block made.

not started yet:
--wallhanging, daughter's 30th BD-Sept, landscape, no design yet-- after baby quilt--PRIORITY #2
--learning kaleidoscope technique; selected fabrics, must postpone
--sampler lapquilt of the BOM, for disabled friend--after Dec BOM

Except for multiple smaller projects at Christmas, this is the most WIPs I've ever had going at the same time.

I think it would be nice if you dropped everything and made the quilt for your DH grandmother. I don;'t know how old she is but I bet she would enjoy tha quilt. Marge

Uuumm, to put it into a list makes me feel so, I don't know, what's the word....committed???

Now if I were to list all the things I want to make, shoot, I'd have to cut down a tree to make enough paper to list them all.

But I did enjoy reading all your lists!
