Default nautical paper pieced block patterns

Two of my quilt guild friends and I are each going to make a Storm At Sea quilt using blues with white backgrounds. We are searching for 3 inch paper piecing patterns with a nautical theme. These blocks will be used as some of the centers in the larger blocks. We are thinking sailboats, stars, lighthouses, fish, etc. Can anyone help? Thanking you in advance.

I would GOOGLE free paper piecing patterns. I've done this a time or two to find subjects I wanted. Plus, you can reduce or enlarge patterns for the size you want.

Also go to your public library and check out books on paper piecing from there.

Default Hi Ann

Hi Ann

Vickey Stamps here. wish I could be of help to you, but no paper piecing papers on hand. I did get a recent book, but it is all pp animals plus 'Noah's Ark'. I have dolphins as far as fish go but they make up either 4 and 1/2 or 5 and 1/2 inch blocks, so that may not work for you. Thought I'd tell you about it. All the rest are regular animals, and directions for a Noah's Ark quilt. Anyway, if you are interested, send me a pm and I will loan you my book.

nice seeing you on here.

Vickey

If the paper pieced pattern is too big you could have it resized. The book 501 Quilt Block from Better Homes and Gardens has a whale in it for the Noah's ark quilt but it's larger than 3" too. They have this book at my library. I have it in my library. I can send you a copy or you can check your library.

Google will be your friend ... try different combinations of what you want.
It will take some time, but you'll have a lot of patterns as a result, for this project and many more.
I know I have seen lots of the type you mentioned, though have never kept them, as I didn't anticipate a need.

If the size is not right, just change the scaling on your printer or via photocopies.
I do that all the time, to get what I really want.

Google Image search shows lots of nautical pp patterns. https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...terns&tbm=isch
You might also do a pinterest search.

Try Quilterscache and maybe Carol Doak's websites (she has lots of Mariner's Compass type blocks).
