Battle Axe, "Congratulations"!!! I retired last May and I have loved it! That's when I started quilting (primarily for charity) as a way to "give back". Working on my first bargello which will be for me. My DH was worried I would be bored ... instead, I've become obsessed with quilting. Ha!

I don't like wasting material on samples. It is too expensive here. I have nice results with my combinations. However I think it is a good idea for those who have difficulty with colour.

I don't mind wasting a one inch strip of each fabric. Not if it "sets my mind at rest," and I am one who has difficulty with color.

I also retire at the end of the month. A Bargello is on my bucket list.

That is a fabulous idea. I have done something similar when making quilt tops with scrap blocks, mostly for family reunion quilts, where I glued a small scrap of fabric in a square to make the quilt top, lots easier than a design wall, for which I do not have the room. If you make the quilt, it will be beautiful.

I'll have to save this. There may be a bargello in me somewhere!
