Smile Need advice on embroidery machines

I'm interested in purchasing a Brother PE770 embroidery machine that is currently listed on Amazon for $615. Can anyone tell me if this is a reasonable price, awesome price, blah price? I'm wanting a machine for hobby embroidery and small scale crafts to sell on Etsy. I don't need anything over the top since most of my embroidery designs would be on small baby items. Also, $615 is pretty much all I can afford to spend. Given this, do you think this machine would be okay, what do you think of the price or do you have recommendations for something that is at that price or less and is just as good of a machine or better?

    Thanks guys!

I love my brother embroidery machine! I say go for it! did you read the reviews? Are they good? That is what I looked for when I bought mine nearly 3 years ago. I do not have that model but I love Brother Machines.

Makes me nervous to buy big items on line, especially used. I bought a used Babylock Ellageo, but I bought it from a dealer. If you have any dealers in your area you might see if they have any used machines. Even with used you can get a little warranty sometimes, and lessons..also maybe craig's list for your area...at least then you could go and look at it and have them let you try sewing with it and maybe stitch out a design for you so that you knew it worked well. Or post a "machine wanted" type add in your local newspaper freebie adds. Just some ideas.

    Good luck with your decision

I bought My Brother Machine from Amazon no dealers anywhere around here but I have found it user friendly and easy to use. I was making my first design in less than half an hour after unpacking.

Don't you have a dealer in GA you can visit? I would buy from a dealer as my first option. And they usually have trade-in machines that they can give you with a limited store warranty and or classes....

I bought that same machine on Ebay 1 year ago. My first embroidery machine. It is great. Very easy to use. When I got it it didn't work. Brought it in to a Brother dealer and the belt had come off during shipping. That wasn't a big deal to me because I planned to bring it in for a service job anyway. It was a bit nerve wracking first thinking it was badly broken. All turned out well. Use it for small crafts also. To personalize things though you will need the BES computer system. The
fonts that come with the machine are to small if y0u want a bigger font.

Off the top of my head, there are three places you should do a price check on this machine....Allbrands.com,
KensSewandVac and SewingMachinesPlus.com. When you compare prices, also compare shipping costs, this time of year many are offering free shipping. Good luck!

I just bought one on eBay - I felt very confident in the purchase because the shop is not far from where I live (Mr. Vac and Mrs. Sew). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Yes, this is a very reasonable price. I paid more for my Babylock and it has a smaller hoop. They are wonderful people, dependable and responsive. Grab it!!!
