    Need advice/opinions

I am getting ready to start my next EPP hexagon quilt. I will be doing diamonds of color with black on white print for the pathway. It will be somewhat scrappy. Would you do each individual diamond in one color each, like all reds, all greens, etc. or would you mix each diamond with all different colors? Does that make sense?

I would prefer each to be the same color with fabric variations within each color, i.e., shades of red, blue, etc. I also prefer the middle hexie to be the same color in all the groupings. Just me!

I would do it exactly that way also. And, I would probably repeat (pairs, maybe) some of the diamonds exactly or with slight variations using many of same fabrics to keep it from being too busy.

I am currently working on one in exactly this pattern. My pathways are going to be white and my diamonds are either reds or blues with centers in the yellow/gold family. But I wanted mine to be more patriotic.

I think it would also look great scrappy, but do agree with keeping the center the same color throughout!

Depends on your stash. If you went totally scrappy you could use a wider variety of fabric, eg, prints, florals, plains.
The black in between will bring it all together.

Since you have the hexagon graph paper why don't you do one each way with colored pencils? Or if you have your fabrics in scrap pieces do an approximate arrangement on your pathways fabric piece to audition each way? Sorry if I'm not explaining well enough-hope you get what I mean.

I agree with the others that I would do scrappy of various shades of one color per flower. Great way to make a dent in your stash.
