Default Need advice on a quilting machine

I am interested in buying a Juki 2010. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Is it reliable? Is it a good buy at $899.?

I've got my eyes on that machine too. The Juki's get great reviews. The price doesn't vary much from what I've seen, although you might find a dealer who will throw in some extra stuff for the same price - needles/bobbins, free shipping, etc. I think HSN has it on easy pay if you wanted to spread out the payments. My local repairman said they are great and he offered to order one for me (he has a very small shop and doesn't normally stock them, although he does work on them). Since the nearest Juki dealer is 80 miles away, I will likely take him up on his offer when I am ready.

You might want to check out All Brands http://www.allbrands.com I got an email for a black Friday offer for 5% off, but you might have to call to see if it will apply to that machine. It wasn't clear to me on the site.

The Juki TL-2010Q absolutely ROCKS! I have lots of sewing machines, high end, vintage... this is THE machine for piecing. Beautiful straight stitch, thread cutter, and a presser foot knee lever. Call Les at Ed Raicherts and tell him CJ Tinkle sent you, you'll get a better price. I do not get any kickbacks, Raicherts is simply fantastic to do business with.

Thanks for your replies. Can anyone tell me what the throat space is? I want it for quilting large quilts, queen and above.

Says it has a throat of 8.5". Awfully small for quilting large quilts - you will only be able to do small designs and will have to make more quilting rows. And with a queen or larger, you may only be able to quilt half of the quilt before you run out of space in the throat area - then your only option would be to take off the rails with the quilt on it, turn them around, and finish quilting the other half.

I have the Juki 98TLQ, the 2000 and the new Exceed. I love them all. The 2000 is on a frame and identical to the 2010 as far as I was told. I have quilted quilts 110" long and they fit in the throat space just fine using cotton batting. Check Kens Sewing Center online. A lot of times he has class or show models barely used for a few hunred dollars less.
