This is my first time posting, so I'm a little nervous! I want to make a "cat" quilt for my granddaughter. I have lots of cat fabric but don't know what pattern to use to really set off the fabric. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

To show off lots of fabric, maybe a 4 or 9 patch or pinwheels. Those seem to be popular in the Quilts for Kids book.

You can do a simple 6 or 5 inch square quilt with paw print border. That would be quick and easy. Or are you looking for a harder pattern?

Could you post a picture of the fabric. I need to see it, let it "speak" to me... :)

If you have one fabric you want to use as a focus, you might try a Warm Wishes pattern.

No need to be nervous posting we are a very friendly and helpful bunch! I am so glad you gave it a shot. OK given my screen name you can imagine I have made cat quilts galore! In fact most of the quilts I have made either have a cat block or a cat fabric in them! Here is one I did called Kitties Dancing with the Stars that I used a cat focus fabric. And an attic windows quilt called Kitties in the window that I also used cat theme fabric. There are also tons of cat patterns out there that are super easy to piece so I have included some pics of those as well.

This is a great thread and perhaps others can post pics of their 'kitty cat' quilts. I would love to see plus would help give pointers to Terry. :-)
Feline fanatic...yours are wonderful!

If you have or can go buy a childs coloring book with simple animal pictures to color they make adorable applique patterns, then you can add alternate pieced blocks or plain blocks. Lots of free patterns on the internet.
