I learned to quilt using Alex Anderson's Start Quilting book, my first project was the rail fence quilt.
A book that has helped me immensely because she has great drawings on how to construct, cut, sew, do binding, etc. is Bits & Pieces Quilt by Anne Dease. I still refer to it often.
If you want to do baby quilts I think Ursula Reike's books - Quilts for Baby Easy as ABC are excellent. There are 3 in her series, very beginner and user friendly

I can't recommend a book, but I am pretty new myself and just recently became aware that there are numerous quilting videos on UTube. I watched a couple today on binding and mitering corners and they were very clear and helpful. Good Luck!
