    Need help from fellow LAers

We had our class on Monday, rested the next day. Made the first quilt. The leopard one in case I get the pics out of order. Anyway, we thought we were doing great til we got to the last row when it overlapped with the previous row. There was still plenty of backing. We have no idea what went wrong. Any suggestions? The next one, the tan with red embroidery had a problem with the bobbin. Could it have been lint? This was signature thread that was given to me and I really don't like all the lint it produces. But, being a newbie, I thought I'd give it a try. Gonna give it back to her. The last quilt, for some reason offset the last row. Again, we don't have any idea what went wrong. Sorry this is so long.

I really don't know your exact question. Are you using a computerized system or do you guide the machine? I know when I began it took a lot more practice than I realized it would take. There is a huge learning curve with any type of long-arming. Are the thread issues on the bobbin side? Looks like some tension issues. Keep practicing, you learn something each time you work on a top.

I forgot to add, it is a computerized machine. We are having lots of fun learning, but want to fix the mistakes.

Did you do any calculations before you loaded the pattern into the machine? I believe most computerized systems have a way to input the quilt dimensions in order to size the pattern to fit the quilt. That is what I saw at my LQS that had a Statler Stitcher on their Gammill. I know that even the Pantovision setup that Innova sells (even though it is not a computerized stitching program), it is a system that uses software so you can do a panto from the front and also allows the user to adjust the size to fit the quilt by inputting the dimensions of the quilt.

For doing a panto by "hand," I know you can calculate how many rows you can fit on the quilt and adjust accordingly.

As far as fixing the mistakes, you will have to get friendly with your seam ripper and remove the overlap rows, figure how much you can fit in the space, and requilt them. As far as burble areas, you will have to remove them as well and requilt them. For the bobbin areas, you could possibly do them on your DSM, but the rows should be done on the LA. Is it yours, or a rental?

Can't help with that. All my work is hand guided. Good luck.

Can't help either..I hand guide so I know where the next row will be! From pics looks like on curves you have a bit of a tension prob.......signature thread is a great LA thread, but you must get lint out of bobbin area often...thinking about your eyelashes on back, that could be a lint in the way problem........just remember, you can't learn to L/A in a day....I've been "learning" for many yrs..........and by trial and error you will find "what works" for you......

Good luck with the learning curve. Thought the computer ones looked so easy when they demo them on quilting shows.
