Default Need Help figuring out this block

I have searched and searched and cannot find instruction on how to complete this block. I have unfinished 12.5" blocks that I want to set in a wonky fashion like the picture I attached (I found under google images). How do I figure out the angles? I think I want the finished total block to be either 14" or 16". My brain is so tired and I knew someone on this wonderful forum knows the answer. Please help.

I cheat. I add 3-5inch sashing all around the original square. I then place my 15 inch square on top but tilted to the angle I want. I cut around the edge and it is ready to go. If you don't have a large enough square, cut a paper or cardboard template to trace around with a pencil. You can then use a rotary ruler and cutter to cut on the lines. The only draw back of this method is the wonky block edges are not on the straight of grain so be careful not the stretch them when sewing them together.
There are "wonky" block settings on the net if you want to piece in the angles and maybe someone else can give you a link.

I made Bonnie Hunter's "Happy Scrappy Houses", they were wonky. http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/...py-houses.html

On here site she goes through the steps, with pictures.

You would have to 'play' with the width and length, as to how much background to show.

good luck

I'm working on a quilt with tilted blocks even as we speak. The video linked below shows the method I'm using, and it's working well for me. Just work out an angle that is good for your particular quilt, and go from there.

Ok, so I do things the easiest way possible so I would make them by using wonder-under and placing them wonky.

Quilter's Cache has a tilting 4 patch. Good example of what you are trying to do, without any bias on the outside edges. http://www.quilterscache.com/T/Tilti...atchBlock.html
