Default ?? about When to remove paper on a Block

I am making a signature quilt for my daughter for her wedding. It is a rail fence with the middle as the signature part of the block. It has paper on that strip to give it extra body for people to be able to sign it without a problem. It worked great. my question is:

When do I remove the paper, before I start sewing the blocks together or after they are completely sewn as a quilt top? Thanks for your help.

Did you sew the freezer paper into the seams or just iron it on the back of the center strip? If it's sewn in, put the locks together first so that pulling on the paper doesn't pull out the stitching on the seams. If it is just ironed on the back, you can remove it anytime you like. Just check your signatures to make sure none need to be traced over and heat set the ink on the blocks with a dry iron.

The middle strip was stitched with paper. Thanks for the tip to heat set the ink.
