Need help on suggestion for a memorial quilt
#1
My daughter passed away a few years ago and I promised her daughter I would make a quilt from her mom's clothes. My problem is they are mostly double knits. There are two dresses that were cotton but the rest is the double knits, I don't know if they would make good quilting material. I have pretty much decided to just use the two dresses and incorporate new material also. What design could I use. I am a newby so I am not "great" at quilting yet! Since they are used dresses, can I just starch them before I sew them or should I do something else.

all you need to use knits is a non-woven fusable interfacing- available at joannes/hobby lobby- any store that carries fashion fabrics.
this is what is used when making t=shirt quilts or any with stretchy fabrics.

So sorry for your loss. I am making a memorial quilt for a friend. There were only 3 shirts I could use. I'm doing the turning twenty pattern and added other fabric, The pieces of the shirts are large enough to see. Memorial quilts are very comforting. She'll love it, whatever you decide.

I would suggest this too--I think it would work fine. The Sunbonnet Sue would be cute, with each in a different dress. I've been thinking about doing this with special outfits from my daughter's childhood (she's getting married next year.) Good luck. Please post when you get it done, would love to see it!
